What to expect

This in-residence course is based on the Maharishi Yoga Āsana Foundation Course, a 16-lesson programme developed by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. It offers a clear and authentic introduction to Yoga as a complete system for health, harmony, and higher states of awareness — not just as physical exercise.

Through gentle Yoga postures (āsanas), breathing practices (prāṇāyāma), and guided knowledge sessions, you develop a practical understanding of how Yoga supports the nervous system, physiology, and overall wellbeing. For every āsana, you learn how to perform it correctly, the benefits it offers to body and mind, and the scientific research that supports it.

During the course, you can expect:

  • Gentle Yoga postures and breathing practices guided step by step
  • Knowledge from Maharishi Vedic Science, Yoga philosophy, and modern physiology
  • Ayurvedic guidance for daily routine and nutrition
  • A balanced daily rhythm with time for rest and nature walks
  • Freshly prepared organic, vegetarian meals
  • Walks in nature across MERU and surrounding Meinweg National Park
  • The supportive atmosphere of Maharishi Vastu buildings, designed to support rest and coherence

The language of the course is English.

MERU is a very special place. The atmosphere is very silent and lively, and you feel it right from the beginning when you arrive. The community nourishes the atmosphere through deep meditation, and you just receive it when you come here.
