Conditions générales des cours en résidence
(updated 26 August 2026)
By registering for and participating in an in-residence course, retreat, or other event based on Maharishi Technologies of Consciousness that is organized or hosted by MERU Academy B.V., Station 24, 6063 NP Vlodrop, The Netherlands (“MERU Academy”), you agree to these Terms and conditions. These Terms apply to the course or event, meals, accommodation, and related services provided by MERU Academy, unless separate written terms are agreed with you. References in these Terms to a course include a retreat or event where the context allows.
Section A. Registration and eligibility
Certain MERU Academy courses or events are available only to participants who meet specific eligibility requirements, such as being a TM Meditator, TM Sidha, or TM Teacher. If eligibility requirements apply to your course or event, MERU Academy may verify your eligibility with the TM organization of your country, Maharishi Vedic University Courses and Consultations B.V., or another relevant Maharishi organization. MERU Academy will use this verification only to confirm whether you are eligible to attend the course or event.
If your eligibility cannot be confirmed, MERU Academy may decline or revoke your access to the course. In that case, MERU Academy will refund any course or event fee and any prepaid meal or accommodation fee paid to MERU Academy for that course or event. By registering for a course with eligibility requirements, you understand that MERU Academy may process and share limited information necessary to confirm your eligibility. More information about MERU Academy’s processing of personal data is available in MERU Academy’s Privacy and cookie statement.
Section B. Photo, video, audio, and testimonials
MERU Academy may take general photos, videos, or audio recordings during courses for internal, archival, educational, or operational purposes where permitted by applicable law. MERU Academy will seek separate consent before using identifiable photos, videos, audio recordings, or testimonials of you for marketing or promotional purposes, unless another lawful basis applies.
If you do not want to be photographed, filmed, or recorded, please notify MERU Academy at events@meru.international before the course or inform MERU Academy staff during the course.
MERU Academy will take reasonable steps to respect your preference, but cannot guarantee that you will not appear incidentally in group or background materials.
A separate optional media consent may be presented to you during registration or at the course. Refusing media consent will not affect your eligibility to attend the course.
Any separate media consent will describe the permitted marketing or promotional uses of identifiable materials and your right to withdraw consent for future use.
Section C. Conduct during the course
Participants are expected to engage respectfully with faculty, course leaders, MERU Academy staff, volunteers, and other participants. MERU Academy may issue a warning or take other appropriate action if a participant behaves disruptively, disrespectfully, unsafely, unlawfully, or in a way that interferes with the course or other participants’ experience.
MERU Academy may immediately remove a participant from the course or event, accommodation, or MERU Academy premises without prior warning in cases of serious misconduct, harassment, threats, violence, unlawful conduct, safety concerns, or material breach of these Terms. If MERU Academy revokes access because of participant misconduct, MERU Academy may withhold all or part of any refund, taking into account the seriousness of the conduct, services already provided, costs already incurred, and the impact on MERU Academy and other participants.
Section D. Payment, cancellation, and refunds by participant
Course or event fee
MERU Academy’s courses and events for personal use focus on personal development, meditation, spirituality, or wellbeing. They are normally provided on specific dates or during specific periods.
These fixed-date bookings generally do not have a legal 14-day cancellation period.
For bookings made for personal use:
- Cancellation at least 14 days before the start date: full refund.
- Cancellation 7 to 13 days before the start date: a cancellation charge of up to 75% of the course or event fee.
- Cancellation fewer than 7 days before the start date: a cancellation charge of up to 100% of the course or event fee.
- Cancellation after the course or event starts, or failure to attend: a cancellation charge of up to 100% of the fee.
The actual charge will reflect services provided, non-refundable commitments, and reasonable losses caused by the cancellation. MERU Academy will deduct costs saved and amounts recovered by filling the participant’s place.
Registrations for business or professional use do not have consumer cancellation rights. The full fee remains payable following cancellation after MERU Academy confirms the registration, unless the booking page states otherwise.
MERU Academy may waive or reduce a charge or offer a transfer, credit, or refund in exceptional circumstances. Requests must be made within two weeks after the scheduled end date.
MERU Academy may deduct actual processing and reasonable administrative costs from a discretionary refund, capped at 5% of that refund. This deduction does not apply to refunds required by law.
Meals and accommodation booked and paid through MERU Academy are governed by the separate cancellation terms below, even when included in the same booking as a course or event. When calculating any cancellation charge, MERU Academy will deduct costs saved and amounts recovered by reallocating the meals, accommodation, or participant’s place.
Nothing in this section limits any rights that must apply under applicable law.
Meals booked through MERU Academy
If you book and pay for meals through MERU Academy, the same cancellation and refund rules apply to the prepaid meal fees. This also applies where Stichting MERU provides the meals on MERU Academy’s behalf.
No refund will be issued for meals already consumed, missed, prepared, or irreversibly ordered before MERU Academy received your cancellation request. MERU Academy will deduct any meal costs it saves following cancellation.
Accommodation booked through MERU Academy
If you book and pay for accommodation through MERU Academy, the following cancellation rules apply. These rules also apply where Stichting MERU provides the accommodation on MERU Academy’s behalf.
- Cancellation at least 14 days before your scheduled arrival: full refund.
- Cancellation 7 to 13 days before your scheduled arrival: a cancellation charge of up to 75% of the total accommodation amount.
- Cancellation fewer than 7 days before your scheduled arrival: a cancellation charge of up to 100% of the total accommodation amount.
- Cancellation after arrival, early departure, or failure to arrive: a cancellation charge of up to 100% of the total accommodation amount.
The actual charge will reflect non-refundable commitments and reasonable losses caused by the cancellation. MERU Academy will deduct costs saved and amounts recovered by rebooking the accommodation.
Refunds will be processed within a reasonable period after cancellation is confirmed, less any applicable processing fees and permitted deductions.
Third-party accommodation booked through MERU Academy
If MERU Academy helps arrange accommodation provided by a third party, MERU Academy acts only as an intermediary unless expressly stated otherwise. The third party’s own cancellation and refund terms apply. Third-party accommodation fees are refundable only to the extent MERU Academy is able to recover the relevant amount from the third-party provider. Any refund may be reduced by third-party charges, processing fees, and reasonable administrative costs.
Accommodation arranged independently
If you arrange accommodation independently or directly with a third party, MERU Academy is not responsible for any payments, cancellations, refunds, losses, or disputes related to that accommodation.
You must contact the external provider directly.
Section E. Cancellation or changes by MERU Académie
MERU Academy may cancel, postpone, reschedule, or make reasonable changes to a course or event where reasonably necessary, including due to insufficient enrollment, unavailability of faculty, speakers or facilities, operational reasons, or circumstances beyond MERU Academy’s reasonable control. Where reasonably possible, MERU Academy will provide at least 30 days’ notice of cancellation. In cases of force majeure or other circumstances beyond MERU Academy’s reasonable control, MERU Academy may cancel or change a course or event at shorter notice.
Such circumstances may include natural disasters, pandemics, government restrictions, war, civil unrest, fire, serious illness or unavailability of key faculty, facility closure, travel disruption, supplier failure, or other events that prevent or materially affect delivery of the course.
If MERU Academy cancels a course or event, MERU Academy will notify registered participants as soon as reasonably possible and will refund any course or event fee, meal fee, and accommodation fee paid for the cancelled course. Unless expressly agreed otherwise, MERU Academy is not responsible for travel costs, independently booked accommodation, third-party accommodation, visa costs, insurance costs, lost income, or other expenses incurred by participants in connection with a cancelled, postponed, rescheduled, or changed course.
Nothing in this section limits any rights or remedies that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Section F. General Provisions

MERU Academy processes personal data in accordance with its Privacy and cookie statement. This may include data needed to manage registration, payment, eligibility verification, course participation, accommodation, meals, communications, legal obligations, and safety.

Severability
If any provision or part of any provision of these Terms is void, invalid, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. MERU Academy may replace the affected provision with a valid provision that comes as close as possible to the purpose and effect of the original provision.
Changes to these Terms
MERU Academy may update these Terms from time to time. The version that applies to your course or event is the version made available to you at the time of registration, unless changes are required by law or are more favorable to you.
Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or a MERU Academy course or event will be submitted to the competent court, subject to any mandatory rights concerning applicable law and jurisdiction. To the extent permitted by applicable law, where a dispute concerns the professional or commercial use, disclosure, or exploitation of materials or content of MERU Academy or its affiliated organizations, MERU Academy may also bring proceedings in any other competent court.
