“That field of creative intelligence, that field of Being which is the source of all thinking and the basis of all action, of all expression, is infinite, and its character is bliss. So infinite bliss should pour out through every wave of artistic creation. And this is the aspiration of the creative arts.”

– Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, August 11, 1970; Humboldt State University, California

About the course

In this first ‘Arts for Enlightenment’ Course, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi introduces the principles of Consciousness-Based creativity and its expressions in human life and throughout creation. Artists, designers, musicians, performers, writers, poets and all those interested in the arts and culture will be inspired by the rich flow of knowledge presented by Maharishi. You do not need to be an artist to enjoy the timeless wisdom presented by Maharishi in this special course.

For the first time, the Consciousness-Based approach to creativity and the artistic expression, comprising lectures from throughout Maharishi’s life, have been collected together and formulated in three unique courses, called the Arts for Enlightenment Master Series. This precious knowledge will nourish the soul of every artist and fulfill the goals of the arts for creative fulfilment, cultural integrity, and global harmony.

Dr. Anthony Miles, President of the Academy of Arts of Enlightenment, and an expert on consciousness and creativity, spent twenty years working with Maharishi on his international art and design projects. Dr. Miles will lead the sessions, which will include lively interactive discussions with course participants. Guest experts in the arts will join in some of the sessions, and share their experiences and work, in the light of consciousness, developed through the Transcendental Meditation programme.

‘If the artist is really living eternity, if the artist is really living Being, infinity, his piece of art will speak of maximum value of life. Most en livened will be that piece of art, and as such, it will last longer in time. So the artist, whereas he promotes life into the lifeless, he promotes eternity in time.’ – Maharishi (Lecture 9)

Academy of Arts for Enlightenment in conjunction with MERU has developed the Arts for Enlightenment Master Series (three Courses). Following on from this first course, we will soon be announcing Courses 2 and 3. The Academy of Arts for Enlightenment aims to fulfill the goals of creative expression for the health and enlightenment of every artist, for coherent collective consciousness, cultural integrity, and the creation of a beautiful, heavenly, invincible world.
